Advocate Beth Mork on organizing

As a licensed family child care provider for 28 years and as a wife who has greatly
benefited from Union Health Care Benefits, I believe that collective bargaining benefits
everyone. It is very intimidating to have to resolve conflicts one-on-one with the person
who makes the final decision as to whether or not a provider keeps her license. Unions
bring more power to the table in conflict resolution, more dollars in resources for training
and support - with providers having more say as to how those dollars get spent.
Especially now, facing economic hard times and difficult budget decisions, it would
benefit us to increase the number of people who stand with child care providers for
Minnesota's children.
