Many studies have shown that early learning is critical to the later academic and employment success of our children. The Child Care Assistance Program ensures that the most vulnerable children in our communities have access to quality care that helps prepare them for school.

Yet the budget proposals making their way through the Minnesota Legislature would cut Child Care Assistance by 5% across the board and “recapture” millions of dollars already allocated for the program—even as thousands of families remain on the program’s waiting list.

In times of tight budgets, it’s important to spend money wisely. That’s why programs that support child care boosting our local economies and saving money and strengthen our state in the long run, deserve more support—not less.
