Guide to Filing a Grievance

A “grievance” means an allegation by an employee resulting in a dispute or disagreement between the employee and the employer as to the interpretation or application of terms and conditions of employment insofar as such matters are contained in the Working Agreement.

Weingarten Rights

You have the right to representation by your Steward or Staff Representative during conversations with your boss which could potentially lead to discipline or termination.  This is a protection enjoyed only by Union members.  If you think the conversation is disciplinary in nature, follow these important steps—sometimes referred to as your Weingarten Rights.

What is Just Cause?


Union members may only be disciplined or discharged for just cause.  There are seven factors that help to determine just cause in discipline cases.
