October 11, 2022

BREAKING: After unanimously voting to authorize a strike, Pequot Lakes SEIU 284 has reached a Tentative Agreement!

Congratulations

to this bargaining team!

The full details of the TA are being shared with members, but some of the highlights of the three-year agreement are:

✅ $4.00 across-the-board raise over three years.

✅ $400 increase to both the single and family insurance amounts each year of the contract.

✅ Vacation payout upon termination or resignation.

✅ Removal of the office clerical job class and moving those employees into the higher paid school secretary job class

Jason Johnson, a Custodian at Pequot Lakes High School, shared his view on the TA:

"I feel that this agreement brings us to the value that we bring to our job and passion.”

The TA will go to a vote of the membership in the coming weeks with a "yes" recommendation from the bargaining team.

Carrie Chiodi, a Secretary at Eagle View Elementary, shares her highlights on the TA:

“We are very excited to come back to our members with a tentative agreement from the district that we feel is reflective of what we’ve fought for," said Chiodi. “The wage adjustment agreed upon in mediation will make the jobs of ISD #186 support staff more competitive with area businesses.”

The bargaining team has been negotiating this contract since July 11th, with two negotiation sessions and three mediation sessions. In that time, Local 284 union membership has had unprecedented growth in the district, increasing 30% over the last two months.
